Immune receptor mimicking hormone receptors: a new guarding strategy
نویسندگان
چکیده
Abstract Plant intracellular nucleotide-binding domain leucine-rich repeat (NLR) receptors play crucial roles in immune responses against pathogens. How diverse NLRs recognize different pathogen effectors remains a significant question. A recent study published Nature uncovered how pepper NLR Tsw detects phytohormone receptors’ interference caused by tomato spotted wilt virus (TSWV) effector, triggering robust response, showcasing new manner of guarding.

A New Algorithm for Guarding
In this paper, we present a new algorithm for vertex guarding of a triangulated surface, which takes into account the heights of the vertices and considers the global visibility of the guards. In this algorithm, the initial surface is reduced to a collection of simple polygons and trivial triangulated surfaces. This is done by assigning guards to some vertices and removing the faces covered by ...
متن کاملParathyroid hormone: new assays, new receptors.
Accurate measurements of parathyroid hormone (PTH) in plasma are necessary for the assessment, monitoring, and therapy of disorders of bone and mineral metabolism including renal osteodystrophy. Assays for PTH have evolved to provide 2-site immunometric assays that are highly specific for the intact 84 amino-acid peptide, PTH (1-84). With the advent of such assays, it has been shown that the pr...
متن کاملA new mechanism for growth hormone receptor activation of JAK2, and implications for related cytokine receptors
The growth hormone receptor was the first cytokine receptor to be cloned and crystallized, and provides a valuable exemplar for activation of its cognate kinase, JAK2. We review progress in understanding its activation mechanism, in particular the molecular movements made by this constitutively dimerized receptor in response to ligand binding, and how these lead to a separation of JAK-binding B...
متن کاملFollicle-stimulating hormone receptors: a new immunohistochemical marker in cancers?
PURPOSE Follicle-stimulating hormone receptors (FSHR) have been reported in ovarian cancer and prostate cancer cells, but recent studies have highlighted their presence in the endothelium of blood vessels belonging to multiple neoplasias. Current research attempts to determine the role of FSHR in neoplastic proliferation and possible therapeutic or diagnostic implications. This paper aimed to a...
متن کاملCis- and trans-activation of hormone receptors: the LH receptor.
G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) accommodate a wide spectrum of activators from ions to glycoprotein hormones. The mechanism of activation for this large and clinically important family of receptors is poorly understood. Although initially thought to function as monomers, there is a growing body of evidence that GPCR dimers form, and in some cases that these dimers are essential for signal t...
